In this module we introduce you to the counselling profession. We give you an overview of the different facets of what counselling entails in brief. This module also attempts to briefly cover most of the upcoming courses in the Advanced Certificate in Counselling Programme.

As a professional counsellor you are obliged to execute expertise in assessing, analyzing, assisting and taking appropriate measures under any given circumstances. Counselling in general looks at the individual holistically within the context of their environment. With reference to innumerable theorists who have reiterated the fundamental significance of counselling at family, community, school, workplace and environment to special populations in a bid to address their needs, concerns and challenges. 

It is our hope that you will design positive intervention strategies that benefit such clients in their contexts.
